A video of houses getting demolished by a bulldozer in Mandla, Madhya Pradesh is being shared on X (formerly Twitter). The video is being shared with the claim that the houses being demolished belong to 11 Muslim families and these houses were demolished on the charges of storing beef.

Wasim Akram Tyagi wrote on X, “In Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, the houses of 11 Muslim families were bulldozed just because they were accused of keeping beef. This hate politics of bulldozers is tearing apart the courts and the Constitution of this country. This process of collective punishment before the court will prove to be a disaster for democracy.”

Congress leader Miraj Hussain wrote, “Houses of 11 Muslim families were bulldozed in Mandla, MP only because they were accused of keeping beef in their house. SC should take immediate cognizance of this incident and issue SOP on the use of bulldozers by the governments.”

Prashant Bhushan wrote, “This is the fascist rule of the jungle! Only in BJP ruled states.”

Raqib Hameed asserted, “In Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, the houses of 11 Muslim men were demolished after police allegedly found beef stored in refrigerators.”

Zafar Saifi wrote, “A few hours before Bakrid, in Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, 11 Muslim houses were unconstitutionally bulldozed on the charge of keeping beef in the fridge. Bulldozer action is unconstitutional even if the charge is proven, here houses are being demolished only on charges. What are courts for?”

Asif Khan wrote, “Nothing has changed for Muslims in this country. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP government bulldozed the houses of 11 Muslims.”

Fact Check

During fact check research, we found a report published on the website of Nai Duniya. According to this report, the police in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh received information about cow smuggling and cow slaughter in village Bhainswahi under Nainpur police station. On the instructions of the Superintendent of Police, Mandla, under the leadership of SDOP Nainpur Neha Pachsia, Nainpur Police Station Incharge Inspector Baldev Singh Mujalda, along with the police team of Nainpur police station, raided the village Bhaiswahi.

During the raid, the police discovered 11 houses in the village of Bhaiswahi where cows and their remains were found. After confiscating the evidence, the police registered cases against all 11 accused under the Animal Cruelty Act and the Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act at Nainpur police station and began an investigation into the matter. One accused was arrested during the raid, and interrogation is ongoing. Efforts are being made to arrest the remaining accused.

Moreover, the police also found about 150 live cows in the fields and stables around the houses. A report by One India also mentions that 150 cows were found tied behind the accused’s hideout. These 150 cows have been sent to a cowshed. The cows were being kept captive to be killed.

Mandla SP Rajat Saklecha stated that cow meat was recovered from freezers in the houses of all 11 accused. “We also found bones, fat, and skin of the animals, which were kept in a room. The local government veterinarian has confirmed that the seized meat is beef. We have also sent samples to Hyderabad for DNA analysis,” the SP said.

According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, SDM Sonal Sidam of Nainpur stated that during the investigation, encroachment was found in these houses. A case was already ongoing in this matter. Subsequently, the Revenue Department team is taking action to remove the encroachment on Saturday. Meanwhile, a report by Nai Duniya mentioned that during the police action, the Revenue Department was informed about the incident. Upon checking the houses, the Revenue Department found all 11 houses to be completely encroached illegally. Therefore, separate action is being taken by the Revenue Department to remove the encroachment in all 11 houses.

It has been reported that this village has long been known for cow smuggling and cow slaughter. Police action has been taken in the past as well. During an operation a few years ago, these cow smugglers attacked, and a Nainpur police officer, Mahesh Yadav, was killed in the line of duty.

Conclusion: The investigation has clearly shown that the claim of demolishing 11 Muslim houses on the mere allegation of keeping beef is false. The Gov lab confirmed that the remains recovered from these houses were beef. Additionally, 150 cows were found in the area. Furthermore, these houses were built on government land, which is why the Revenue Department demolished them as illegal structures.
