Fact Check

Starting the research, we first reverse-searched the picture tweeted by I.P Singh, on Google. During our research, we came across a news article published by the Cambodian news agency The Post Khmer on March 26, 2015. The report was in the Khmer language, Cambodia’s national language. So, we translated the report into English. On translation, we found out that the Cambodian report is regarding the issues in the education system in Cambodia.

However, the picture of child wearing torn clothes used in The Post Khmer report looked exactly the same as the one tweeted by Samajwadi party leader I.P Singh.

You can clearly see the picture used in the Post Khmer report and I.P Singh’s report are the same and match perfectly with each other.

Hence, all these points prove that the picture of a child wearing torn clothes tweeted by I.P Singh is not from India but Cambodia. This means that the Cambodian picture was cleverly used by I.P Singh to malign the image of PM Narendra Modi and to gain political benefits.
