Tara Lay, a Twitter user shared the video of the child kidnapping and wrote, “Child trafficking caught in broad daylight. This is sickening. Look at kids on the ground and the one tied up on the right. Humans (children) being sold.”
According to the video’s background voice the children were abducted and were being sold. A few children can be seen in the video laying on the ground unconscious, and one is bound. The kidnapping group is the money value at which the children will be sold for.
After the Twitter user tweeted the video, the users in the reply were condemning the act and praying for the safety of the children. The tweet has so far garnered 1,622 retweets and 1,584 likes so far.
Another Twitter user going by the display name on Twitter as PixieDust1 tweeted the video with the same claim and caption.
After extracting several keyframes from the movie, we performed a reverse image search. The reverse image search led us to the Facebook video post by Sachin Thakur, which was posted on July 9, 2022.
Further, the disclaimer appears at the bottom of the longer version of the video after 30 seconds. The video’s disclaimer states, “This video is made with a lot of risk, share it as much as possible.” Further, it says, “Please read the video disclaimer carefully. This is not a real incident.”
Moreover, another disclaimer pops ups at 1:28 time frame and reads, “This video is a complete fiction. All the events in the video are scripted and made for awareness purpose. It does not promote any kind of activity or defame any kind of ritual. This video has nothing to do with any real incident.”
According to the video’s disclaimer, the video was created to raise awareness about the child kidnapping. However, social media users are spreading a cropped version of the video, claiming it to be the true occurrence.
Further, our Only Fact team tried to determine where the video initially emerged. However, we were unable to locate the original source of the viral video.
Hence, considering all the points in our fact-checking, we found that the video of a child kidnapping is staged. While child kidnapping is a serious concern, this particular video was created with the motive of raising awareness regarding child trafficking.
