Fact Check

While watching the viral video, we spotted the News 18 logo in the upper right corner. We went to the News 18 YouTube channel and found the original footage of the reporting. After watching the entire video, we discovered that the AAP leaders shared a cropped video of News 18 to show that the bridge was not yet completely built and fell during its construction work.

According to News 18 report, a major accident took place while demolishing the bridge over the Banas River in Banaskantha, Gujarat. The bridge over the Banas River was in bad condition. The administration hired a contractor to demolish it so that the repair work could be carried out later. The crane driver was not cautious while demolishing the bridge, which resulted in a big portion of the bridge collapsing. No one died during the accident.

Further, to know how old the bridge was, we conducted a keyword search and found the Gujarat Tak report. As per the report, a bridge in Shihori, Banaskantha, that collapsed during demolition work was an old bridge.

The claim that the bridge collapsed during the construction work is completely fake and misleading. The demolition was done to repair the bridge. However, an awful accident occurred as a result of negligence. Fortunately, no casualties occurred.
