On September 16, 2022, News 24 claimed in their tweet, that the BJP had made a significant statement in Tamil Nadu on the gifting of gold rings to infants born on Pm Modi’s birthday. Each ring will cost Rs 5000 and have a weight of 2 grammes.
With the help of keyword search using “the BJP announced to offer a 2 grams of gold ring to every infant born on September 17.” In our research, we came across a report by India TV. As per the report, the Tamil Nadu BJP party unit has chosen to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17, by giving out 720 kg of fish and giving gold rings to newborns among other things.
All newborns born on the Prime Minister’s birthday will receive a gold ring, according to L. Murugan, a minister of state in charge of fisheries, information, and broadcasting. They have decided to provide the gold rings at the government-run RSRM hospital in Chennai. The local unit of the party calculated that day’s births at the specific hospital would total between 10 and 15.
In a three-page letter distributed by the party’s national general secretary Arun Singh on August 30, it was requested that all the states observe the event as “Sewa Pakhwada,” in the manner of previous years’ programme. Blood donation and medical check-up camps are only a couple of the activities that fall under this programme. No cake cutting or organizing of “havans” is allowed, as instructed by the party leadership. Additionally, the party has chosen to distribute 720 kg of fish within MK Stalin’s constituency.
Our research revealed that News24 only provided partial information. BJP party has decided to give gold rings to newborn babies born at the government-run RSRM hospital in Chennai.
