The Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED) published the Conflict Change Map data on February 26. The data names nations and territories facing rising political violence.
Moreover, the anti-Hindu bigot and fake news peddler, Ashok Swain, quoted ACLED and claimed in his tweet that, as per ACLED data, violence against Muslims and Christians is growing in India, which is why the country is placed on the watch list.

Fact Check
Our team began our research by reviewing the data released by ACLED. According to the study, the data shows two dashboards: threat map and surge map. The first map displays the shift in political violence statistics over the last year.
According to the data, India has seen a limited shift in violence over the past year. India is in light teal color, indicating that the shift is between -25% and 10%. However, India is not on the list of countries to monitor. Countries such as Ghana, Lebanon, Palestine, Peru, and Russia are highlighted in red, indicating that they have been on the long–term watch list over the past year.
The another map displaying change in political violence over the past month again has India in the light teal color. Argentina, Bangladesh, France, Lebanon, Nepal, and Turkey have been marked red and are on the short term watch list for the past months.
Further, we also discovered another tweet by ACLED on their Twitter account. Besides, the tweet includes a list of nations on the ACLED’s watchlist in 2023. Ukraine, the South Caucasus and Central Asia, the Sahel, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Yemen, the Kurdish Regions, Burma, Colombia, and Haiti are among the nations on the watch list.
Besides, just to be sure, our team reviewed the other annual reports. Also, according to the annual report from 2021, the nations on the watch list over the past years were Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Germany, Guadeloupe, Kenya, Myanmar, Poland, and Puerto Rico.
Moreover, on the map displaying the shift in political violence over the past months, India was shown in light red, indicating a moderate rise in violence. However, according to the most current ACLED data, the incidence of political violence over the past months has decreased.
Hence, after analyzing all the aspects, it is clear that India’s name is not on the watch list of ACLED. Thus, the claim made by Ashok Swain is fake.
