A video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah is going viral on social media. In the video, he is heard saying, “There is no 24 hour electricity, no hospitals in the village, the youth is unemployed, farmers are killing themselves, there is no water in the fields, electricity and employment is not reaching the houses. What did you do?“
Samajwadi Party spokesperson and national secretary Rajiv Rai, Youth Congress district general secretary Ayush Singh, Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Kalpana Choudhary, former district president of Congress social media for Lakhimpur Khiri Rajat Gupta, and Salam Islam Khan (Media in-charge of Samajwadi party Mumbai North West) all have shared the video stating that Amit Shah is now questioning the Modi government.
Fact Check
Our team conducted research to verify the accuracy of the claim. We found a 56-minute video on YouTube using Google’s reverse image tool. The official channel of the Bhartiya Janta Party posted this video on April 18, 2018. Addressing the Shakti Kendra Pramukh of 28 assembly constituencies of Bengaluru division, from 47 min onwards, slamming the Siddaramaiah government, Amit Shah said “there is no 24-hour electricity, no hospitals in the village, the youth is unemployed, farmers are killing themselves, there is no water in the fields, electricity, and employment is not reaching the houses. What did you do?“
It is evident from our research that the opposition has selectively posted the video to mislead the people.
