In our fact checking research, we did a Google search using relevant keywords and came across a report by Money Control. Money Control has revealed that the lawsuit has been filed not only against PM Modi but also against Rahul Gandhi. However, it has not been filed by Adani or the Ambani group. A person named Surjit Singh Yadav, who calls himself a farmer and stock investor, has filed a case in a Delhi court.
Furthermore, the ABP report reveals that the petition cites the speeches of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and PM Modi at election rallies and seeks to restrain them from making false, fabricated and misleading speeches and allegations against the Adani Group.
The petitioner cited PM Modi’s speech in Karimnagar, where he had accused Congress of taking bribe from Ambani-Adani and said that Rahul Gandhi has stopped mentioning Adani and Ambani in his election rallies because Congress has received black money in the tempo.
Apart from this, the suit has also accused Rahul Gandhi of distorting facts against Adani regarding the alleged loan waiver of Rs 15 or 16 lakh crore of some industrialists, including Adani Group of Companies promoter Gautam Adani, by the Central Government.
The petition states that the speech given by Rahul Gandhi was extremely misleading and was given to create confusion in the minds of the readers/viewers so as to tarnish the image of Adani Group companies in the eyes of the public and investors.
The ABP further quoted, “That such false, fabricated and misleading speech delivered and propagated by the Defendant No. 1 (Rahul Gandhi) while twisting about the loan write off and the allegations leveled by the defendant No. 2 (PM Modi) without any basis and justification against the Industrialists has the potential to cause confusion among the general investors who invests in Indian Stock Market and the Plaintiff resulting in the high unanticipated volatility in the stock prices of the companies of these industrialists are causing huge losses to the investors and traders which also includes the plaintiff.”
In conclusion, our fact checking research shows that the lawsuit in question has been filed not by Adani, but by an individual named Surjeet Singh Yadav, who identifies himself as a farmer and stock investor. Both Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi have been targeted in the lawsuit, with both parties accused of making false, fabricated and misleading statements against Adani.
