A social media claim alleging that India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval attempted to sexually assault Indian Army Aviation Major S. Kumar during the Army Armour Day celebrations on May 1, 2025, at the Sabre Officers’ Mess in New Delhi has gone viral. The claim is accompanied by an alleged image of an FIR registered at the Vasant Vihar, South West Delhi police station. However, our verification found the claim to be entirely baseless and false.

Fact Check

We began our fact-checking process by reviewing credible news reports related to the claim. No reliable sources reported any instance of sexual misconduct involving India’s National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval. However, we did find coverage of the Indian Army’s Armour Day celebrations. According to SSBcrack, the Indian Army commemorated Armour Day 2025 with a tribute to the Armoured Corps, highlighting its transformation from traditional cavalry regiments to a modern mechanised force. The event, held annually on May 1, was led by General Upendra Dwivedi, the 30th Chief of Army Staff, who assumed office on June 30, 2024. There was no mention of NSA Ajit Doval attending the event.

To further investigate, we contacted Rakesh Kumar, the SHO of Vasant Vihar Police Station, who categorically denied that any FIR had been registered against Ajit Doval. He confirmed that the viral claim is fake.

Additionally, we analysed the image of the FIR shared by the claimants, which cited FIR number 0048. Upon verification, we found that the actual FIR number 0048 registered at Vasant Vihar Police Station was dated February 12, 2025, not May 3, 2025, as shown in the viral image. The original FIR pertains to a case under Section 173 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS) involving the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. In contrast, the viral FIR image mentions Section 154 of the CrPC, indicating inconsistencies.

Therefore, the claim that NSA Ajit Doval sexually assaulted an Army officer is completely false. There is no news report or official record to support it. The FIR in the viral post is fake, and the police have confirmed that no such case has been filed. All the evidence proves that this claim is baseless.
