Islamist propagandists make misleading claim about Ghar Wapsi to carry forward anti Hindu narrative

Ashok Swain, a rabid Hindu hater, never fails to attack the Hindu community with false and misleading claims. Recently, on his Twitter account, taking forward his hatred for Hindus, he claimed that hundreds of Christians were being openly converted to Hinduism in Chhattisgarh. By “openly converted,” he meant that “Hindu supremacists” (a term taken from his Hinduphobic dictionary) are pushing Christians to convert to Hinduism.

Another anti-Hindu news portal, Hindutva Watch, and Ahmad Khabeer, propagandist journalist of The Jamia Times, both claimed that 1100 Christians were converted to Hinduism by the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Fact Check

We started our research with a keyword search of “Hindu families converted to Hinduism in Chhattisgarh” and came across a report by Organiser. According to the report, on the third day of the Shrimad Bhagavat Gita Katha in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh, a “Ghar Wapsi” ceremony was held. Prabal Pratap Singh, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state unit, welcomed over 1100 people from 300 families back to Hinduism at the ceremony. He cleaned their feet with Maa Ganga’s holy water.

The families ‘reverted‘ back to Hinduism, not ‘converted.’ These people are so enamored with their propaganda that they can’t tell the difference between a convert and a revert. A convert is when someone abandons their religion/faith and accept another one. A revert is when they returns to their religion/faith.

Organiser

Swain purposely did not include in his tweet that the people who did Ghar Wapsi claimed to have lost their way, been victims of conversion, and abandoned their religion. As per the Naidunia report, after realizing their mistake, they reverted to Hinduism. One of the victims of conversion stated that they were duped by missionaries who converted them under the guise of offering financial help.

Naidunia

In order to spread their faith, Christian missionaries have unlawfully lured and converted people from Sanatan Dharm to Christianity. Seeing the danger that the missionaries pose, various Hindu groups have taken the initiative and launched a campaign that has resulted in the Ghar Wapsi of over 20,000 people.

Many such Ghar Wapsi ceremonies have taken place in the past when people chose to return to the roots of Sanatan Dharm. They were not forced. The tweets by the Islamic propagandists are highly misleading. They can’t digest their meal unless they spread fake news about Hindus. People like them lack the courage to call out Christian missionaries who unlawfully convert people, but they will vent their hatred towards Hindu organizations that wholeheartedly welcome illegal converts back to their religion.
