Ashok Swain, a Hindu-phobic Twitter user, is well-known for disseminating fake news about Hindus. Every now and then, he sends out a propaganda tweet targeting the whole Hindu community. On January 18, 2022, the fake news peddler Ashok Swain tweeted that a Muslim student getting a Masters in Computer Science is being savagely beaten up by a Hindu supremacist vigilante gang in Madhya Pradesh for talking to a Hindu girl.
Hindutva Watch, another hate mongering and propaganda portal, stated that the Muslim boy was talking to a girl about books when a bunch of fanatics pulled him away, slapped him, and whipped him with canes.
Fact Check
We began our research with a keyword search in Hindi and English, which led us to a story by Dainik Bhaskar. After reviewing the report, we discovered that the claim that the Muslim boy was assaulted for talking with a Hindu girl is misleading and only partially true.
The propagandist Twitter account has only offered one side of the story that is in line with their propaganda. They depicted the Muslim youngster as a victim and mentioned that he was beaten. The other side of the tale, however, is nowhere to be found in their propaganda.
According to the report in Dainik Bhaskar, a B.Com. final year student was molested in a cyber cafe. On Tuesday afternoon, she reached the computer cafe near SN College to fill out the form, but seeing the crowd, she stood outside on the road. Grabbing the opportunity, Shahbaz, a resident of Sihada, went to her and started threatening her. He proposed marriage to her and forced her to accept. He even grabbed her hand tightly and threatened her, saying that if she refused his proposal, she would be killed along with her family members.
The crowd gathered when they saw the scoundrel pestering a girl, and Shahbaz was thrashed. The accused filed a police report against those individuals. When the student arrived in her village, she and her parents filed a police report. According to a girl’s allegation, Shahbaz has been harassing her for the past few days. The accused also threatened to disseminate rumors about her having an affair with him.
Shahbaz was assaulted not for conversing with a Hindu girl, but because he was threatening her to marry him. Many incidents have occurred in recent days in which Muslim men have been thrashed for misbehaving with Hindu girls, yet they have been portrayed as victims under the guise of Islamophobia.
Many propagandists recently spread fake information about a Muslim being beaten on a train in Moradabad and made to chant Jai Shree Ram. The Uttar Pradesh police then said that the man was beaten up by a crowd when a fellow female passenger accused him of molesting her. In this case, too, several Hindu-phobic Twitter accounts portrayed the accused as a victim.
